AGITO — Interactive Graphical Environment for Operator Training

CHESF / ANEEL P&D

Highlights

  • 3D photorealistic substation environments
  • Immersive (HMD), semi-immersive, and desktop modes
  • Gamified scoring and operator ranking system
  • Fault scenario scripting with smoke/fire visual effects

AGITO (Interactive Graphical Environment for Operator Training) addresses the challenge of training electrical system operators for high-stakes fault scenarios without risk to live infrastructure or personnel.

The platform reconstructs real CHESF substations in photorealistic 3D, allowing trainees to navigate the environment, inspect equipment status panels, open and close circuit breakers, and respond to simulated fault events — including dramatic visual effects such as fire and smoke to simulate arc flash incidents.

Three deployment modes accommodate different training budgets and facility configurations: a fully immersive mode using head-mounted displays (HMD) with physical controls, a semi-immersive version using large-format screens, and a conventional desktop mode. All modes share the same scenario engine and scoring system, which tracks operator decision quality, response time, and procedural compliance, feeding a ranking dashboard visible to trainers.

The map-mode view mirrors CHESF’s actual network topology, allowing trainees to navigate from the system overview down to individual substation bays, bridging high-level situational awareness with equipment-level operation.
